The monk's robe in this country is pink. I have yet find out why except that may be they are mostly nuns rather than monks. Still, I thought they look pretty in pink :)

SAY CHEESE... SMILE, YOU ARE ON CANDID CAMERA!
YANGON was a surprise... a VERY pleasant surprise :-) I had not known what to expect, other than the fact many people are boycotting this country.
BUT, what a "paradise" one has given a miss to... It's a place where people are still friendly, honest & curious... very decent people. It's where one doesn't have to pay a bomb to have good service. It's a place where no one in their right mind should miss! Politics aside, there's nothing to stop anyone from coming. I don't very much care about politics...
As a traveler, my main concern is it's a safe place to walk around. Well, this is one of the safest places in Asia (other than Japan & Singapore). Surprisingly, it's also one of the cleanest in Asia! (Again, other than Japan & Singapore). To give it a miss because of its politics is to be very unfair to its wonderful people!

Sometimes, it's interesting what was retained after visiting a country. I'm more inclined to form an opinion or feeling about a country at least a few months after visiting it rather than when I was there or right after a visit. In this way, I was able to retain the best of it all. After I've let the dust settled, that is.
MYANMAR (that's what I prefer to call it) feels a lot calmer & peaceful than Cambodia & Thailand. It is less exotic, less war-torned & people are simpler. I feel it is a country worth visiting at least 2 or 3x. I've only been here once & only been to Yangon. Yet, my experience has been a fantastic one. I met some of the most honest people in the world (how i know this? i dropped US$200 on the seat of my flight & one of them, possibly a construction worker, immediately told me about it)! It may be an isolated case but it was a great start for me on initial approach to the country. It's something I'll always remember of this country.
